I publish my own books using www.lulu.com, which enables me to sell books  through a range of channels, including Amazon. Being 'published' by the major companies is now virtually impossible, but who needs it anyway?  What many would sneer as mere ‘vanity publishing’, I would call preserving artistic control.

The main thing that happened during the Noughties, according to the programme, was that an ageing Britain became obsessed with recapturing its youth.

My letter in the Daily Mail, on 17.12.09, about the effect the X Factor is having on British Pop, has certainly stoked up a heated debate. In Daily Mail ‘Debate’ section today (24.12.09) there were 3 letters, two of which directly referred to my letter.

It’s a sad reflection on our society that shows like The X Factor are so popular.
All we are going to end up with is a bunch of bland ‘karaoke’ singers with a shelf life as short as the attention span of those who vote for them.

ISN'T Shadow Skills Secretary David Willetts's perspective on skills a bit limited?

Mr Willetts seems to be so unskilled himself, that he found it necessary to pay to have his light bulbs replaced, judging by his expenses claim. Is this the Tory vision of our skilled future?

I doubt if a nation of light bulb changers will make much impact on our soaring debt.
